Easter 2008 Day 4

Day 4

Day 4 Uralla to Home

Today we would head for home - I wanted to take my wife down the Gwydir Hwy as it went though Gibralter Range and Washpool National Parks.

I loved the country through here which I had seen on previous rides.

Didn't stop for anywhere enough photos today but had a good ride.

After fueling up at Armidale we continued through Glen Innes finally pulling in at Bellweather Falls for a look

It was quite cold in the high country even at 10am things didn't get warmer until we headed down the range.

The view South from Heffron Lookout

And East from Hills Lookout

The highway follows the Mann River for around 10km

We stopped for Lunch at Jackadgery and then headed North towards the Mallanganee on Bruxtner Highway via Baryugal. The road was only 50% Sealed it was quite a long haul we were both a little sore on the butt by the time we stopped for a drink at Mallanganee Pub.

Yet another lookout with a long distance views.

I had wanted to ride through the Richmond Range NP but was worried about the weather so rode to Casino and the to Kyogle for a fuel up. Once fuelled up we decided to go via Lions Road on the way home. The Lions road was built by the Kyogle Lions Club as shortcut to Brisbane(www.rainforestway.com.au/index.php?element=lionsroad) It passes through the Border Ranges National Park and is very windy - get for a bike rider. At the top is the Border Loop Rail Tunnels - it is so step the rail tracks do a full loop over itself as it proceeds over the Border Range.

We stopped at the Border Loop lookout for a hot drink.

Back at Rathdowny for the last stint home.

And Finally back home.

And oh yeah Day 1 left me with this little repair to do.
