Well today we were setup for a bit of stuffing about in the Simpson Desert.
To get to big Red a 20ks detour was in order.

And from on top. |
After riding up Big Red we headed out into the desert proper. The next major obstacle was the Eyre Creek - a 70k detour.

Riding across the Eyre Creek |
After using filling my bike from last bladder it was time to turn around and head back to Birdsville. The big girl was starting to run a little rough and was hard to ride over the dunes. As we hit the Big Red detour it was getting steadily worse and then I ran out of fuel althogether - strange that shouldn't have happened. I managed to borrow some fuel and make it back to Birdsville - after fuelling I noticed that fuel was running all over the ground when the bike was running.
After stripping the bike down we found that the o-rings on the swivel fittings in the carbs had failed the fuel was running past them.
Well hopefully I can find something to fix it in the morning.
